Supermomos NYC Private Founders Dinners

Capturing authentic founder conversations in New York's most exclusive startup spaces

Role: Event Videographer & Content Creator

Client: Supermomos (NYC's premier founder community platform)

Timeline: bi-monthly

Location: High-end private dining venues across NYC

PROJECT OVERVIEW

When Supermomos approached me about documenting their Private Founders Dinner series, the mission was clear: capture the intimate energy of curated founder-to-VC conversations, showcase the caliber of speakers and attendees, and deliver social content that reinforces their brand as NYC's most valuable founder community.

These aren't typical networking events. Supermomos brings together venture-backed founders ($500K–$100M+ raised) with partners from top-tier firms like Index Ventures, Bessemer, and NEA for facilitated discussions over multi-course fine dining experiences.

The Challenge: Operating as a discreet videographer while capturing the complete narrative arc of a premium dinner service from beginning to end—cocktail hour through dessert. Documenting authentic, high-value conversations without disrupting the intimate flow of discussion, capturing the gravitas of speakers while maintaining the warmth of community, and delivering content that attracts future attendees without compromising exclusivity.

SCOPE OF WORK

Content deliverables across each dinner event:

1. Event Teaser/Announcement Content
Pre-event promotional videos showcasing venue atmosphere, past attendee testimonials, and speaker credentials to drive registrations and build anticipation.

2. Live Event Documentation
Comprehensive coverage capturing: keynote moments with featured VCs, facilitated table discussions, networking interactions, and venue ambiance that communicates the premium nature of the experience.

3. Highlight Reel & Social Content
60–90 second recap video optimized for LinkedIn featuring key speaker insights, authentic founder reactions, and community energy.

PRODUCTION APPROACH

Discreet, High-Quality Capture:
Operated with minimal equipment footprint to preserve intimate dinner atmosphere while maintaining cinema-quality imagery. Balanced professional documentation with respect for private conversations.

Strategic Coverage Plan:
Documented multiple story layers simultaneously:

  • Wide establishing shots showcasing upscale venues and curated attendee mix

  • Medium shots capturing speaker presentations and facilitated discussions

  • Close-ups highlighting emotional reactions, note-taking, engaged listening

  • B-roll of fine dining elements (plated dishes, table settings, wine service)

Narrative Arc Documentation:
Captured the complete evening journey—arrival and cocktail hour energy, transition to seated dinner, speaker presentation moments, intimate table conversations, and closing networking—to tell a cohesive story of the premium experience.

Respectful Attendee Management:
Coordinated with Supermomos team on when/where to film, ensured attendees felt comfortable being captured, and maintained discretion around sensitive startup discussions.

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT

The best event content requires understanding what makes the experience valuable—and Supermomos knows their community intimately.

Their team provided clear direction on what resonated with their founder audience: authentic peer connections over polished perfection, speaker credibility through natural Q&A moments, and the feeling of being "in the room" without heavy-handed production.

Early deliverables prompted valuable feedback: capture more reactions during speaker insights, showcase the diversity of founder stages and industries present, emphasize the exclusivity without making it feel inaccessible, and let the energy of real conversation come through.

I adapted my approach accordingly. For subsequent dinners, I incorporated:

  • Discreet reaction shots during powerful VC insights about fundraising or scaling

  • Wide shots establishing the intimate table size and curated attendee mix

  • Natural audio moments capturing the buzz of conversation between courses

  • Close-ups on details that signal premium experience: plated lobster bisque, wine pours, place settings

Result: Content that authentically represents why founders prioritize Supermomos dinners over the "5 other events happening that night in NYC." Social posts featuring this content consistently drive strong engagement and qualified registrations from the target founder demographic.

The lesson: Event content succeeds when you understand the community's values. For Supermomos, that's facilitating genuine founder-to-founder connection and unfiltered access to top VCs—not just another networking opportunity.

DELIVERABLES & IMPACT

Content Delivered Per Event:

  • 1 highlight reel (60–90 seconds, optimized for LinkedIn)

Platform Performance:
Vertical video content deployed across LinkedIn (primary) and email marketing during peak founder engagement windows (early morning, lunch, evening).

KEY LESSONS: EVENT CONTENT FOR PREMIUM COMMUNITIES

1. Exclusivity Requires Subtlety
Luxury experiences don't need flashy production—they need authentic documentation that lets quality speak for itself. Capture the details that signal premium (venue, food, speaker credentials) without overselling.

2. Context Matters for Community-Driven Content
Understanding who Supermomos serves (ambitious, fundraising-stage founders) shaped every creative decision: which moments to emphasize, how to frame speakers, what details communicate value to that specific audience.

3. Respect Privacy, Build Trust
Many attendees are working on stealth startups or discussing sensitive business challenges. Being selective about what's captured and shared builds trust with both client and community.

4. Discreet Presence, Complete Story
Premium event coverage means being invisible while capturing everything—the full narrative arc from arrival to departure without ever disrupting the intimate experience that makes these dinners valuable.

WHAT THIS PROJECT PROVES

  • Premium event documentation for high-net-worth/high-achieving audiences

  • Multi-event recurring client relationship management

  • Discreet filming in intimate, high-stakes environments

  • Authentic storytelling that preserves event integrity

  • Platform-specific content optimization (LinkedIn for B2B founder audience)

  • Understanding startup/VC ecosystem and what resonates with that community

  • Brand consistency across recurring monthly event series

THE TAKEAWAY

Great community content doesn't advertise—it invites. When you capture authentic moments of connection, insight, and conversation between founders who "get it," the value of membership becomes self-evident.

Supermomos got content that reflects the caliber of their community without compromising the intimate, high-trust atmosphere that makes their dinners irreplaceable. The project reinforced that the best event coverage happens when you deeply understand the audience you're creating for—and in this case, that's ambitious founders who value substance over spectacle.
